First let me say welcome to my website and an insight into my thoughts, beliefs, and lifestyle. My name is Daniel Sprietzer, which I’m sure you could guess by the title. Who am I? What do I do? Why am I writing this blog? Let me handle each of these in turn.
Who am I?
If you want to be technical, this is what is on my resume or CV.
Award-winning, highly accomplished senior executive leader with proven record fueling sales and revenue growth through strategic business development and restructuring for international corporations. Excel at daily operations management, including sales division and regional store supervision. Effective personnel manager/team builder experienced in training, mentoring, and motivating sales force to overachieve goals. Catalyst able to innovate new processes and procedures to maximize efficiency and productivity.
In truth that is who I am, but more and more it’s who I was. You see I had my CV written when I was thinking that I needed to define myself by having a comfortable six figure income working for this corporation or that. I believe I spent $1500 on having my resume written 3 years ago thinking that it would get me my dream job. Wow, was I deceiving myself. The truth is I never wanted to work in a corporate environment, and it befuddles me for those who actually enjoy it <not that there is anything wrong with it for those people>.
The truth is I have done a lot in the last 20 years. I have owned an importation business that imported marine fish and coral from Indonesia. I have worked for the world’s largest toy soldier company in the world, where I not only climbed through the sales ranks at an incredible pace, where I grew the sales division every single year (growing the business from $15m to nearly $50m in less than 4 years). <As a side note of self gratification, the company has been in decline since my departure in 2004. This is not completely due to my departure, more over it is a result of those of us who cared about the company and understood the markets departing.> Most recently I started doing Business Management Consulting for small businesses ($5m/yr or less). This business while very fulfilling still did not fulfill my Vision.
In 2004 I had my life changing experience where I awoke with chronic back pain. I was unable to stand or sit for more than 15 minutes at a time without debilitating pain. This was a result of my living out of balance for over 10 years! Sitting at a computer hunched over, living with stress, being extremely out of shape (I was nearly 300lbs and I was one of the smaller guys at work), and poor nutrition all led to my body saying, “ENOUGH IS ENOUGH!”
Over the next year I did nothing but work to get my body back to a functional state, be sure to check out my trainer Mark Shields sites at Fitness Coach Mark. Here is an example of the changes that my body went through during that time:
I am still amazed at the change in my body shape and posture. Let me tell you, I was like many of my clients where I just never had time to work out, etc (let alone the desire!). BUT let me warn you, change that now or you may suffer in the future. Find balance in your life, and you will find true happiness.
So What do I Do?
When people ask me this question, I answer simply, “I am an Entrepreneur.” I am a business management consultant, a Real Estate Investor, the CEO of EZ-Ventures LLC, a partner of Genius Media, the Chief of Operations for REI Office Solutions, an affiliate manager, an affiliate marketeer, a Search Engine Optimization “guru”, an online marketing “guru”, a life coach, a cyclist, a dog “whisperer”, a gamer, and most importantly a husband to my beautiful wife K. (I joke that we have been married only for about 4 years, but we dated for 12 years of our marriage…I was an absentee husband being obsessed with success in the Corporate world…sound familiar? I hope not.) So in short I tell people that I am simply an Entrepreneur. Most importantly, I am an Entrepreneur who is following his Vision and living the lifestyle that only others could wish for.
Which finally brings me to, Why am I writing this Blog?
I have always been the “power behind the throne”. In all of my jobs, I was often the one in charge, but I hid due to my own fears behind someone who I perceived as more charismatic or more important that myself. I realize now that it was fear that held me back and having conquered that fear I have been very successful in my life. For some time now I have been asked, “Dan, how did you get to where you are today?” Well this blog is one source/outlet for me to share my beliefs, viewpoints, etc with you. My goal is that if you can learn one thing about yourself from my articles that will help to propel you forward towards your Vision, then I have succeeded. If you don’t agree with my point of view, let me know, and more importantly let me know why.
I hope you enjoy reading my blog, and I wish you the best in moving forward to your Vision.
